In this quote from the book The Golden Ass, by Apuleius, a man named Lucius is speaking to a group of people about the dangers of believing what you hear. In this particular scene Lucius is telling everyone that he has been told that there are wolves in the forest. Everyone believes him and starts to worry, even going so far as to invent a story about how they could be attacked by wolves. At the end of the story, when Lucius is asked to show the wolves, he calmly draws a picture of a wolf and shows it to everyone. When they all see that it is just a picture of a wolf, they stop worrying and go back to doing what they were doing before the conversation began.
